St Andrew’s is home to Scotland’s oldest university where students take part in The Pier Walk, one of the oldest traditions that takes place before the start of the new semester. Students, in their iconic red gowns, walk down to the end of the pier, climb up the ladder, and walk back along the highest point of the pier wall.
