Bayards Cove, the cobbled quayside from which the Mayflower left for America in 1620, lined with stunning houses and a a tudor fort, built between 1522 and 1536 to protect the harbour town from attack and the historic Bayards Cove Inn, built in the 14th century and one of the oldest buildings in Dartmouth. From here you can sit with a cold beer or fish and chips and watch the yachts and fishing boats sailing out of the mouth of the River Dart to the sea, or catch the Dartmouth Lower Ferry to Kingswear to pick up the South West Coast Path.
