Artemis (Original Painting)
This is an original painting, in acrylic, on Saunders Waterford paper. I am fascinated by Greek Mythology and am occasionally inspired to create work connected to the Greek Gods and Goddesses, represented in a more contemporary way. Drawing inspiration from ancient Greek vases, this painting features Artemis, also known by her Roman name Diana and daughter of Greek God Zeus, and twin sister of Apollo. She is the Goddess of hunting, wilderness and the moon. Often portrayed as a young, beautiful huntress carrying a quiver of arrows and holding a bow and accompanied by an animal such as a deer. She is a symbol of female empowerment in Greek mythology.
