Happy New Year 2025!

January 14th, 2025

It’s been a while since I’ve written something here…….. can’t believe how quick the time passes!

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas and are slowly getting back into things this January. I always find it takes a while to get back into the swing of work, even though I have been working on a commission for the last few weeks. We had a busy few months leading up to Christmas and including the exhibition at the Ashton Memorial in Lancaster late November 2024. I had a joint exhibition with my daughter Kate, who had a wonderful display of her detailed linocut prints and nature inspired paintings. The weekend was a wonderful success and made all the hard work worth it. We thoroughly enjoyed meeting past and new customers and chatting to them about our work.

There have been a few changes over the last few weeks, in so much as my printer in Lancaster (Mike Shepherd) who I have worked with for over 20 years took the hard decision just before Christmas to announce he was going to close in the New Year. It’s always hard to lose a business you’ve worked so closely with for many years and embrace new changes. However, luckily my printing work is going to be taken on by MTP Media in Kendal, Cumbria who already produce all my greeting cards and calendars. I am so pleased to be working with people I already know and trust, and whose products are excellent quality.

We are gradually hoping to make a few changes regarding the framing of prints over the coming year, in that fingers crossed, in the next month or so we will be able to offer to have prints framed and shipped anywhere in the UK for an additional cost. We will have to replace the glass with acrylic to avoid any breakages (which is slightly more expensive) and of course we will also have to add a courier charge. We’re excited we are going to be able to do this as think it offers customers more choice, as we know it’s getting more difficult in some areas to find a good framer.

I’m also hoping to complete some original paintings every month that will be available for customers to buy from the website or social media. I’ll paint these in between my commissions, and they will reflect whatever the season is, and where I’ve been that particular month, so look out for those at the end of each month!

Greeting cards have been missing from the site for quite a few months, but we will gradually add some over the coming weeks. They will be small packs of a selections of 5 greeting cards rather than single individual cards – hopefully there will be something for everyone.

That’s it for now I think, but won’t leave it so long in future to update you all, promise!
